  Snuffy's Bunker Info on Converting

Converting courses from Jack Nicklaus 5 to Golden Bear Challenge Version-6 is a very simple process.

This conversion guide will help you through the process step-by-step.

If you have any questions, comments, or problems regarding course conversion please do not hesitate to E-mail Me.

Or better yet log onto the Golden Bears Den Forum and post any questions there in the:

Designers Q & A Area and get some input from some of the designers & players.

There are a few Tools & Instructions that you may want to get for converting JNSE and JN4 and JN5 courses to JN6 playable course files as well.

But you will have to most likely do some work on these converted course files to JN6 format in the JN6 Designer to make them totally playable.

Some of these tools are available in the Tools & Patches area at The Golden Bears Den Downloads Area on the GBD Forums Community.

STEP 1

First of all, you will need a JN5 course to convert. If you already own JN5 then you probably have many courses sitting on your hard drive that you want to convert and play in GBC.

If this is the case, you can skip ahead to the next step.

If you do not have any JN5 courses, then check out the download guide for help on getting some for conversion.

STEP 2

The first thing you need to do is make sure that all of the course's files are in one directory, (jnc, hol, pcx, and ini extensions).

Once this is done, open up the course converter that was installed with Golden Bear Challenge.

Now click on the 'open' icon near the top of the program, or chose 'open' from the 'file' menu.

Find the main course file with the jnc extension and open it up.

Now from the 'file' menu chose 'save as JNGBC playable'.

The converter should default to your GBC courses directory, so all you need to do is hit the 'save' button.

Make sure you specify that it saves as a .course file, or GBC will not read or load the file properly.

The conversion should take approximately 60 seconds, depending on the size of the course.

The next time you load up Golden Bear Challenge your new course should be available from the course selection menu.

Have fun!
