- When chipping around
the greens, be sure to turn the grid on to get an
idea of which way the chip will break once it hits
the green. This will also tell you whether the green
slopes away from you or towards you, which is a
big factor in how hard to hit your chip shot. Not
only will this help you get more chips closer, but
you'll also start holing out more shots from around
the green.
- After a shot, the
smart replay is nice, but hit shift+smart replay
to get the replay dialog box. You have more options
there. Including the ability to save/view a hole-out!
- Don't be in a big
hurry to swing the club. The player interface is
easy to use, but rushing will result in a hurried
shot that doesn't take power or aim into consideration.
Your pre-shot setup is the most crucial factor of
where your ball will end up.
- Don't always trust
the auto-caddie. Keep an eye on the distance to
the pin and use the club you think will get you
there. Time spent practicing will give an adequate
idea of how far each club will drive the ball.
- Go to preferences,
advanced, and shift+verify while in a game (on or
off-line) to see the vital statistics of the game.
- When playing in medium
or strong winds, I like to use the ctrl+arrow keys
to set up a fade or draw going 'into' the wind.
For example, if
I have a 150 yard shot with the wind blowing 15
mph from my right to left, I'll set up for a generous
fade. Doing this lessens the effect of the wind
and makes judging the shot much easier.
