Season play is basically playing a number of tournaments in a
row. I have been playing season play for quite some time now. I
only play the courses that the real PGA plays. I went to pga.com
and printed out their schedule for the year. Then I go to Puhmans
and download the courses that I still need. I play in the exact
order of the PGA and if there isn't a course, then I skip it. For
the rotating majors, if there is a course for it, then I don't worry
about it. If there isn't one, then I will use a past one that has
been made. Like last year when Pebble Beach had the US Open, I started
my season off with Spyglass Hills and then used Pebble Beach later
in the season for the major. Because I know that I will play more
than 1 season in the year, I will set up the first season for mild
wind, then the next one will be medium, etc. You can only set up
one person in season mode,(hopefully yourself).LOL. I had tried
to set up for 2 players, but the game wouldn't let me. Your stats
will be kept the same, but you will also have season stats, which
have your season placing, and your winnings. If you highlite your
place number and click on history, it will show how you actually
won your money. It only shows tourney's that you have made the cut
in.When you do set up your season, you can set it up any way that
you want to. As I said before, I only play the real courses in the
real order, but this is my preference.
NOTE:
I was having a problem that I would complete a few tournaments,and
the game would drop to the desktop and lose the rest of the season.
What I did was unclicked the box in the game property
setup for showing the scoreboard. The only time that I will look
at a scoreboard is manually opening it up, and NEVER
between rounds.Since then, I haven't lost a single season. This
isn't a problem with your video card.I believe it is a random
glitch in the game.

Problems with Season Play (on: 03. November 2002
at 06:22)Ever since I bought JN6 I have never been able to complete
a season. After a couple of rounds in season play, I am asked
to adjust the skill level. However no matter what I do, the game
exits to desktop and I am unable to continue the season. I have
reinstalled the game several times and I have installed the gbcpatch.
I have contacted Activision who suggest that it is a problem with
my graphics card. However I have upgraded my computer several
times with 4 different graphics cards but still have the same
problem. The game does not crash at any other time. Has anyone
else had this problem

are having. I would complete 5 or 6 tournaments, and the drop to
the desktop and lose the rest of the season. What I did was unclicked
the box in the game property setup for showing the scoreboard. The
only time that I will look at a scoreboard is manually opening it

is a random glitch in the game. I hope this helps. Marc

December 2002 at 15:59) But has anyone found a workaround for this?I'm
having this exact problem, but turning the scorecard off has no
effect. And I don't lose the rest of the season, I just can't continue
on. If you look in the season editor everything is still there,
it just says that this tournament is still in progress. Also, I
tried it on another machine with different hardware and OS and still
the same thing. Let me rephrase that. I tried to open the season
save on another machine and still got the same result.

December 2002 at 02:58) Hi Jackk, I tried what you said also. Once
the lock-up has happened, even though you can get at the Season
Editor, you can't modify the season to re-enter it.You have to start
from scratch again. What you could do is, while in the editor, write
down the total money that you have won, and then rebuild the season
from after your last completed tournament and when you finish the
season, add your prior winnings to the new total. Marc

things.Did you know that when you go into the season editor that
you can make changes, save the game, try to continue, crash out,
reload save, and the season changes will still be there? I've noticed
that, while I chose to play against similar handicaps as my own,
the AI still whomps me. I have yet to make the cut after 2 rounds
because -6 or so is not good enough. The winner is usually at -35
or so for the tourney. Now, I can go from game 1 to 2, but not from
2 to the next tourney as was described earlier. However....and this
is a doozy....I have found a convoluted way that works 8 out of
9 times. There's a major emphasis on convoluted here. These steps
have to be followed precisely in order for it to work on my machine.
After the game crashes to the desktop....--Relaunch the game--Choose
"Quick Start" from the main menu. (This takes you to a
game using Jack at Sherwood)--Right-click on the screen and choose
"Open Saved File"--Click on "End Game" when
that dialogue comes up.--When the saved files dialogue comes up
choose "_Backup.season" as the game to load.--When the
season loads click "OK" for the skill adjust message.--Right-click
on the screen and choose "Scorecard". (This turns the
scorecard off)--Right-click and choose "Main Screen Camera
-> Height -> Close" (If "Close" is already
selected or checked, choose "Normal")--Click "OK"
on the skill adjustments screen.--Click "OK" on the Tournament
cut notification. (I don't know if this step works when you finish
the tournament...I'm losing, remember --Click "OK" on
the Tournament Status message.(It says something like"the rest
of the players have finished with out you")--This is where
it would normally crash. If I get the next message, I know I'm good.--Click
"OK" on the Season status message. (Something like "...finished
round 4 of 4 of tournament #4 of 15....etc")--When you finish
the last step you will be staring at a shot of the last hole....no
menus or screens. We turned off the scorecard, remember?--Right-click
and choose "New Game". It will take you to the first hole
of your next scheduled tournament like it should.--SAVE THE GAME
HERE!!! Lest it crash again or you have a burn-out and lose all
your work here I did say convoluted, right? Might you, or someone
else, have some failed seasons that they could test this on? I'm
real curious to know if it works on other machines. I'm running:Athlon
1.2ghz512MB PC133Geforce4 4400Soundblaster AudigyWin XP ProGame
version 1.0.2A Thanks again Marc! Jackk

December 2002 at 16:39) Hi again Jackk, Thanks for the update. Maybe
Dave can add it into the season play tutorials as Season Recovery
Help. Lately, I have only been coming to this forum once in a while.
When TW2003 came out, I haven't played JN6. Marc

December 2002 at 05:15) Just a "maybe" here. If you are
using the +/-2 handicap option, maybe the end of the round is adjusting
your handicap outside the level of the players that you are playing
against. Suggest that maybe you should try a season against the
none option ( you will still play against players in the -7 to -9
range) and see if you can get through the season that way.Just a
thought!

December 2002 at 12:08) Andrew, Well it seems that you really were
on to something. For the first time since I started trying to play
the seasons I actually got through 2 tournaments without a hiccup.
I even made the cut in one of them If this continues, I'll owe you
a big one. It's my kind of luck that lets me spend a bunch of time
figuring out the most steps to fix something only to have someone
point out a simpler way.Too funny. Thanks again guys. Jackk
Have fun playing season mode.
