Using
Names.txt files in
tournament play

When
setting up a tournament you can choose to play a
"handicap flight" (against opponents with a handicap
similar (+/- 2) to your own), or an "open tournament"
where the opposition handicaps are 0 to -4. The
former allows for close tournaments and lots of
ties, whereas the latter is preferable if you want
the AI players to perform more realistically (i.e.
true to life).
You can also create replacement names.txt files
for tournament play. If you choose an open tournament
you are restricted to players with handicaps between
0 and -4. I have created a couple of tournaments
based on historic events using info at http://www.golfonline.com/golfstats/index.html
which has details of major tournament results going
back 40 years or more. You can play against classic
fields of the past on classic courses - but there
is no guarantee that the same winners will prevail!
